7 Home Trends We're Leaving in 2021

BY DAILY ORIGIN EDITORIAL STAFF

Some trends come, and some trends go. Here are seven trends we're looking forward to saying goodbye to in 2021.

Bland Rooms

It's great to move into your new home and start with a blank space. Not all homes come together in the snap of the fingers (nor should they). Discovering your style and home personality takes time, but that doesn't mean it needs to be bland.

Valeria from @rebeccaandgenevieve is great at showing you how to play with color throughout your house on a budget (even if you’re in a rental)

Shiplap

We get it (and may have some of our own) but what can you do the shiplap that excites you? Paint with a pop of color?

Blue & Red Rooms

Be patriotic or a patriot but find ways to incorporate those colors without overusing those two colors in paint, textiles, and decorations. Keep it simple.

We love how @studioham displays this vintage flag.

The Wallpaper Matches the Drapes

Just because you love a pattern does not mean you need it everywhere. We love patterns, textures, and colors too. Find those that tell a story together, without the exact matchy-matchy needed.

Lauren from @studiolaloc shows us how to make all the patterns work in one space.

TV's Above the Fireplace

Ok, this might be unavoidable for those TV lovers where the only focal point and place for the TV is above the fireplace. So let's make it into art by adding a TV frame and displaying beautiful digital art.

We love the antique look of this TV Frame.

Rose Gold Hardware / Plumbing Fixtures

We'd even go so far as to add brass into the equation. Out are the days of being afraid to mix metals. Nothing is sexier than a beautiful antique brass with chrome. Find ways to draw your eyes to stand-out fixtures rather than letting them blend in the background.
