Top 5 Books for Summer Reading

There’s never been a better season to curl up with a good book and relax than summer. Whether your life gets busier or you have some extra downtime. These books are quick and easy reads for everyone to enjoy on the porch, beach, or curled up on the couch.

Hands down, do not trust the description on the backside of this book. It did not do it justice what-so-ever. The story is told from two very different character perspectives (mother-in-law & daughter-in-law). It is relatable for everyone in the sense that relationships are hard and to not judge others so quickly.

This was a quick read for a long book. Yet again, the story is told from several characters throughout the book. You get to see all sides of the story, whether you agree with them or not. A thriller in a sense, although the ending was slightly predictable.

Emily Giffin, the gateway into “chick lit,” dropped this book at prime COVID-19 time (lucky for us). You will find yourself finishing the book in one-day unless you make excuses to stretch it out. Plus, the story is based in New York during the time of 911, bringing real-life facts into a well-told read.

Caution dog owners and lovers, the first few pages might turn you off. Not because the story was poorly written but due to how well it’s written. This story tugs at the old heartstrings. The best part, it’s from the dog’s perspective and captures all emotions. *Insider tip read the book before watching the movie.

This book is so close to actual stories; it makes you wonder if the author was referencing cases like Audry Pott & Daisy Colemen. It addresses an important topic of violence against women while being able to tell the story from several victims, the father of the vitamin and mother of the accused. Although the ending leads you to believe that the Author could carry on the story from one of the characters in another book, we’ll have to wait and see. Overall, this book came in last as the story was slow in the beginning, and the end left me to believe there was more to tell.

It hasn’t gone unnoticed that almost all the books chose the word “The” in the book titles. We’ll have to discuss the reasons beginning another time. What books are you devouring this Summer?
