Everything Our Editors Are Buying to Support Businesses in Salem This Fall

If you didn’t know, Daily Origin HQ is in the heart of Witch City, aka Salem, Massachusetts. As a part of the community for many years, this time of year is special. With annual events like the Haunted Happenings Grand Parade, Mayor's Night Out, Kids' Costume Parade and so much more all canceled this year, Salem has pivoted to virtual tourism and shopping. So today, we’re sharing some of our favorite finds from stores located in the heart of this historic city.

Salem, Massachusetts, is a destination recognized around the world for its rich history, which includes the tragic Salem Witch Trials of 1692, the glorious maritime era that left its indelible mark on Salem through architecture, museums, and artifacts, and for its month-long celebration of Halloween. Today more than one million people visit Salem annually, generating nearly $140 million in tourism spending and supporting 1,000 jobs.

Witch City Wicks - Sea Witch Candle

Don’t be sad that most of their Halloween 2020 collection has been sold out. For this fall we’re stocking up on our favorite Sea Witch. GMT is the art, adventures & brand of Georgia, now 9-year-old Salem, MA resident who started GMT @ 6 years old.

Atomic Coffee Roaster + Georgia Made This - Witch City Blend

While we usually roast Cabot St Blend and Rocketeer Blend for the month of October, we’re switching to the Witch City Blend. This is Atomic’s first year releasing a Halloween Blend, and highlighting the city they have been roasting coffee in for 10+ years. Witch City is a blend of Costa Rica La Pastora, and Colombia Santa Barbara. It's a light roast, and one you'll want to enjoy all October long! Witch City labels are a collaboration with Georgia Wrenn, a 9-year-old Salem resident that typically sets up as a street vendor in October.

Plus so much more from the Haunted Happenings Marketplace. Every year vendors flock to Salem’s streets for the Haunted Happenings Marketplace. With the cancellations of many events, Haunted Happenings created an online market that you can shop year-round. Explore and support the vendors, makers, performers, and artisans you love from Salem, MA, and beyond!
