The celebration of Earth Day has been around since the early 1970s. It may have been something you’ve heard of for many years but put it under the category of a “crunchy granola” type of person to care about.

In 2021, everyone is talking about climate change and paying attention to Earth Day. But how can you get involved? We’re sharing our top five Earth Day resolutions to make this year.

FOOD WASTE

Work on creating less food waste before you even hit the grocery store, by going through your cabinets and thoughtfully shopping. We do our best to use everything we already have at home. During the height of the pandemic, it was ultra-satisfying if we ran out of milk to make our own plant-based milks at home. It’s just that easy. One of our resolutions this year will be composting or saving those veggie or bone scraps for broth.

Support the bees

Beelieve it or not, our bees account for one out of three of our meals. Here’s why & what to plant to support the bee population.

Donate

Take those unwanted items to the local donation center. Even those unwanted beauty items.

Recycle

Before putting everything you believe can be recycled, learn what you can and cannot recycle.

Upcycle

Upcycling a piece of furniture is one of our favorite things to do at the DO HQ but upcycling doesn’t stop there. Get creative beyond furniture with clothing, we’ve once used old leftover paint on an outdoor project and we’re loving the trend of creating your own artwork. Add this to your next DIY with leftover home supplies.

Some of this list you may already be doing and if so, hats off to you! What are your Earth Day resolutions? Every little bit counts!
