Just because you are on vacation doesn’t mean your regular wellness routine has to take a timeout too.

Don’t worry—we are sharing five simple ways to incorporate your wellness on your next vacation. The keyword here is simple.

1. Drink Water

Start your day with a huge glass of water. It’s easy to get dehydrated or neglect water when you’re on vacation, especially if there’s alcohol involved. Before you go to bed, fill a glass of water up and keep it next to your bed. That way when you wake up you’ll be able to hydrate right away and start the day off with healthier intent.

2. Eat when you’re hungry!

This one is so easy to miss. Unless you’re taking a solo vacay, you might find yourself starving until everyone is ready for brunch at noon. The body operates best when it’s fueled. If you’re scheduled for a late breakfast or a late dinner, keep something (even as simple as a banana or nuts), in your bag so you can snack when you’re waiting for your crew.

3. Move every day.

Stretch, sweat, walk or take a workout class and listen to what your body needs. If you’re not feeling a workout of any kind on vacation, focus on stretching. Vacation is often comprised of too much walking, too much lounging, or too much drinking. Stretching is a great way to combat any tightness. Take anywhere from 1-10 minutes to do some cat-cows, toe touches or child’s pose.

4. Support Your Immune System

Combat any threats to your immune system with supplements. Because you might not be on your A-game nutrition-wise, it’s smart to bring vitamin C, zinc, or something like Airborne that might help boost immunity while flying and traveling.

5. Relax

Take the pressure off! Vacation should be enjoyable, which means sometimes nutrition and fitness shouldn’t put a damper on your mental health while you’re trying to relax. The body is smarter than you think and just because you indulge a little on your trip, doesn’t mean any progress is lost or that you need to make up for it. If you need to put your health on the back burner or take a week off from the gym, don’t sweat it (pun intended).
