5 Amazon Finds To Make Your Home More Waste-Free
By Geneve Lau
Routines are essential to our way of living. Whether it’s your cup of coffee in the morning to your nighttime skincare routine, maintaining a routine leads to our direct wellbeing.
While it’s obvious that routines are repeated daily, what might not be as obvious is that if your routine incorporates disposable items, you’re accumulating a massive amount of waste that’s completely avoidable!
These are a few items I’ve found to help cut down waste in my day-to-day activities. The best part is that they’re all available from Amazon, so they’ll get to you in two days or less!
1. MakeUp Eraser - $20
Taking off the day’s makeup can be a lot of work, and take many makeup wipes and/or cotton pads. This two-sided towel does the job! With a clean side and an exfoliant side, you’re sure to get off all your makeup without a spot left behind. I recommend the black color, as the pink one I have does get a bit dirty from the makeup residue. I like using this in the shower, it makes it so easy to take all of my makeup off, and I don’t have to use a million makeup wipes!
2. Fabric Shaver - $13
How many sweaters/shirts/blankets have you thrown out because they got too old and piled? Well, this fabric shaver/defuzzer is going to seriously change your life. You can spend a few extra bucks and get the rechargeable version to minimize even more waste and avoid using batteries. This little device will make any old material look just like new. I’m obsessed and can’t stop defuzzing everything I come across.
3. Metal Straws - $8
There’s always the debate of metal straws vs. glass vs. silicon, but I’ll have to say I’m team metal straws because I’m clumsy (and have broken too many glass ones) and don’t like that silicon straws retain taste and are a bit harder to clean. This pack from Amazon comes with bent and straight straws and comes with cleaning brushes to ensure your straws are squeaky clean each time!
4. Reusable Storage Bags - $17
One of the most used items in my kitchen is Ziploc bags. I use them to store my salmon in the freezer and cheese in my cheese drawer. I like this variety pack because there are various sizes to fit different needs, and the material is very high quality and won’t crack even in the freezer! My hack to washing these with ease is to turn them inside out.
5. Electric Lighter - $10
One of my must-haves, while I’ve been home during the pandemic working, has been a lit candle. I know that I always find myself going through lighters insanely quickly, and an electric lighter has proven to be the best! It’s super easy to use, recharge, and saves on the waste (and cost!) that comes with conventional lighters.
These are only a few easy swaps to make your daily routine more waste-free! There are many other products you can easily incorporate into your day-to-day. Cheers to helping save our planet!
